Actor Riteish Deshmukh was a lucky birthday boy this year. His wife, actress Genilia (nee D'Souza), gifted him a Tesla Model X to celebrate his 40th birthday on December 17.
Sharing photographs on Instagram, Deshmukh said, 'So the Baiko @geneliad surely knows how to make a 40 yr old birthday boy feel like a 20 yr Old. #TeslaX #electric#ecofriendly.'
Deshmukh is the second famous Indian to own a Tesla X.
Prashant Ruia, Essar's chief executive officer, purchased a Tesla X earlier this month and had it registered in Mumbai, making it the first Tesla to hit Indian streets.
What is it about the Tesla Model X that has won over India's rich and famous?

Model X, developed from Tesla Model S, a full-sized sedan, has been designed as a family car.
The company says, 'Model X comes standard with all-wheel drive, ample seating for up to seven adults, standard active safety features, and up to 295 miles of range on a single charge.'
The car comes in three variations -- ranging from five seat interior to seven seat interior.
All three variations offer the option of fold flat the seats at the back to create extra interior cargo space.
It has the largest interior storage capacity of its class: '77 cubic feet in the six seat interior configuration,' Tesla says.

The Tesla Model X comes with Falcon doors.
Tesla says, 'Falcon Wing doors enhance accessibility to the second and third rows, and are capable of opening in even the tightest parking spaces.
'Each door is equipped with sensors to monitor the proximity of surroundings and smoothly open, up and out of the way -- providing wide openings for parents to comfortably buckle children in, without straining or bumping their child's head on the roof.

Model X has the largest all glass panoramic windshield in production, providing an unparalleled view.
'Optimized solar tinting and an obstruction-free view creates unlimited visibility for the driver and up to six passengers,' Tesla says.

Tesla claims, 'It's the quickest SUV in production, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour [96.5 kmph] in 2.9 seconds.'
It can reach top speeds of 250 kmph.
Tesla also offers a mode called 'Ludicrous', which when activated makes the acceleration even better.

Tesla Model X is packed with safety features.
The company says, '[Model X is has] hardware built to provide visibility that a driver cannot access alone.
'Eight surround cameras allow for 360-degree vision, while 12 ultrasonic sensors provide detection of surrounding objects.
'Forward-facing radar see through heavy rain, fog, dust, and beyond the vehicle ahead -- helping to prevent accidents by providing simultaneous visibility in every direction.
'Model X is the first SUV ever to achieve a 5-star safety rating in every category and sub-category, the lowest probability of occupant injury, and a rollover risk half that of any SUV on the road.'
Its front trunk acts as large, impact absorbing crumple zone and the battery support structure provides side impact protection. The floor mounted battery, Tesla adds, 'lowers the center of gravity which resists rollovers.'

It also comes with a medical grade HEPA filter that 'removes pollen, bacteria, viruses and pollution from cabin air'.
