Nina Manuel: I'm dating a non-model right now!
< >

For the last few years, as host of the popular television show After Hours, model Nina Manuel has provided all of India a glimpse into Mumbai's sizzling social scene. Now, however, all of that's changed, as Nina's leaving the show to pursue her passion, fashion. In fact, in a few weeks time, she'll be in New York City, scoping out some courses in fashion buying and merchandising, which she hopes to take.

She spoke to rediff.com at Day Two of the Lakme Fashion Week, just an hour after walking the ramp for Little Shilpa.

Tell us about what you wore on the ramp:

"It's crazy, amazing, wild. With the boots and helmet, it definitely has a military feel. Of course, it's not something you can wear day-to-day, but I love it.

And your own personal style?

"I don't have a style, really. It varies with time and place."

What about dating? Are you single? Do you only date models?

"I'm dating a non-model right now! As for what I look for, I'd say: a great sense of humour, intelligent, able to engage in conversation, good-looking... Basically, everything my boyfriend is! (Laughs) So, no, I'm not looking."

Is modelling a rewarding career?

"Yes. You make a good amount of money and you can be your own boss. Also, you're always invted to the hottest parties. You're naturally a part of that kind of social scene."

Has the financial crisis affected you?

"No, I'm still getting a lot of work. And, of course, I'm still shopping! (laughs)"
