Who is she?
"I'm originally from Montreal, Canada, but I've been in India for a
little over a year. I'm based in Delhi, and I love Bombay too! Both
cities have their own charm."
I came here to do a culinary internship as a chef. But soon I was
getting approached to do modelling, so I started free-lancing. After
that, I joined Elite modelling and have been modelling full time since
then."
What does she think of the profession?
"I'm really enjoying modelling. Coming from a technical background,
modelling is so different and fun. It's requires creative energy,
almost like giving a performance. I really enjoy that aspect.
On working in India:
Obviously, the culture is a little different, but I find the Indian
fashion industry very professional. If you're not comfortable with a
garment, the designer will stitch it to your comfort or find you a
different outfit. Some friends who model in the West tell me that the
designers can be very inconsiderate. It's not like that at all here.
It's professional but still warm and friendly. And the other models
are so sweet. There's a real sense of camaraderie that joins everyone
together. We've been having a lot of fun, hanging out. And it seems
like everyone has been extra nice to be, because I'm sort of an
'outsider'. It's great.
On her fashion sense:
"I would say my personal fashion sense is very eclectic! I even design
a lot of my own clothes.'
On talk that unhealthily skinny women dominate the fashion industry:
"I don't agree at all, at least here in India. Have you seen the first
few shows? Not only are all the models fit and beautiful, they look
like real women."
