WLIFW opened with a bang this year is veteran designer Vikram Phadnis, who falls under the 'Contemporary' segment. Vikram's Autumn/ Winter 2008 line is titled 'Save the Earth'; his inspiration and theme is nature. As such, the focus of the clothing is on earthy tones like browns and yellows, while the fabrics are primarily linen, silk, georgette and jersey.

Seen here is Indian catwalk queen Carol Gracias in a flowing brown dress, complete with '60s-type headgear.
