Idukki, Kerala

For those looking for peace and quiet amidst mountains and thick forests, Idukki is the place to head to with more than half of its area covered by forests.

The 1,500-square-foot Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary and the Idukki reservoir are a photographer's delight. Apart from being home to a variety of plants and wildlife, the forest also has sandalwood, rosewood and other exotic varieties of trees. Lush green valleys, streams, waterfalls and peaks offer amazing views that make Idukki an ideal weekend getaway.
