When it comes to using gym equipment, you need to make sure you don't inconvenience others as you go about your workout.
Don't hold up equipment
Do not leave your towel on the machine and walk away to take a long water break. Do not sit on equipment you are not using, as it gives the false impression that you are about to begin your set. Do not hold equipment by spending unnecessary time chatting too long between or after sets.
Don't hog cardiovascular system
Limit yourself while working out on cardiovascular systems such as the treadmill. People are expected to spend 15 to 25 minutes on these machines. Try not to exceed these limits and let other users benefit from the equipment. If no one is waiting for your machine, feel free to keep going.
If you see that someone is waiting for the equipment that you are using, you kdon't need to rush through your set, but don't prolong it either.
Spotting
It is absolutely okay with asking someone to spot you once or twice, but don't expect them to help you for every exercise.
Say you agree to spot someone doing heavy bench pressing or lifting heavy dumbbells. If the other person is doing fine on his own by the sixth rep, don't assume that there's no reason for you to hang around until the last (8th) rep.
