In the land of Lord Buddha

An absolute peace and silence prevailed inside the Mahabodhi temple, which houses 2 metre-plus high image of Lord Buddha sitting in the Bhumisparsa Mudra, with one hand pointing to the earth.

Devotees from all over world offer prayers at the feet of Lord Buddha here. Another important place for a devout Buddhist is the Peepal Tree or the Bodhi Tree, located inside the temple complex.

It was here under this tree that Lord Buddha spent the first week in meditation after attaining enlightenment. Adjoining it is the Vajrasana or the Diamond Throne where Prince Siddhartha sat to become the Buddha. One must go there with some time to see the entire temple complex.
