Qualifications & selection
Qualifications: "Any engineering degree with good credentials will do for engineers, while specialisation in specific fields will be required of non-engineers. Chartered accountants, for instance, will need to have qualifications in a particular domain such as Finance, Marketing for Sales, or Marketing Profiles," says Menon.

Selection process: The selection process at Satyam consists of a written test covering analytical and logical thinking, a group discussion on a general topic, and a personal interview with the HR department and Senior Associates (at the level of Assistant Vice Presidents/ Vice Presidents).

Applying for the job: "You can apply in the career section on our website, www.satyam.com, through ads that we release for specific requirements. You can also send unsolicited applications to careers@satyam.com," explains Menon.

Advice for interviewees: "Jobs always come with two fundamentals -- basic requirements and desired profiles," says Menon.

Basic requirements at Satyam include knowledge and expertise on technology, tools, experience (if applicable), etc but desired requirements are the key factor in the selection process.

"It is the extent of involvement and contribution that an individual has made in the course of his career that is the most important," says Menon. "Business acumen, knowledge of customer relations, problem-solving skills, team spirit, and communication and articulation skills are all desired requirements in any prospective employee."

Post-interview: "Once a candidate is selected at Satyam, an offer is made. Upon acceptance, candidates have to provide references; we conduct an independent background check and then, before joining, they undergo a medical test."

If you have not been selected: "Candidates who are not selected are informed," Menon says, adding that if someone is assessed as fit for another area of work, they are then considered in that capacity. "That will be discussed as part of the interview process and discussions," he says.
