Post-doctoral research in mathematics

What: The School of Mathematics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is looking for visiting fellows for post-doctoral research.

Details:

~ In select cases, a candidate may be considered for a regular appointment in the Institute following one or two years of visiting fellowship (Regular appointments are normally intended for citizens of India).

~ The fellowships commence normally in August-September. However, joining at a time outside this period is possible, by special arrangement.

~ The visiting fellows currently receive about Rs 10,000 per month. With subsidised accommodation and food available on the campus, this amount is adequate for a comfortable living for two people

~ (At Mumbai) Algebra; Algebraic Geometry; Differential Geometry, Lie Groups, Ergodic Theory and Related Areas; Number Theory and Automorphic Forms; Combinatorics.

~ (At the Bangalore Centre of the School) Differential Equations and Applications.

~ The Main Campus is located in Mumbai on the sea in beautiful surroundings and is well equipped with library, computer, housing, canteen and other facilities. 

Requirements and contact:

The applicant should have a recent PhD degree in Mathematics (or submitted a thesis for it) and be well motivated to pursue high quality research in the subject.

The application should be accompanied by:

  • A curriculum vitae.
  • A consolidated report describing the work already done and a plan for future work.
  • A copy of the PhD thesis and preprints/reprints, if any.
  • Names of three referees familiar with the applicant's work.
