What: The 12th One World Fellowship Scheme, run in collaboration with the British Council, is currently open to applications to join the 2007 programme.
Details:
~ 22 October.,2007 - 2 November, 2007
~Aimed at senior radio and television broadcasters from developing countries
~ Successful applicants have their international travel and accommodation expenses paid for
the duration of the programme, and are given a daily living and travel allowance. They are
guided throughout the programme by representatives from the One World Broadcasting Trust.
~ Successful applicants will arrive in London on 21st October, and depart 3rd November. (Any additional nights must be covered at the fellow's own expense.)
~ The scheme is limited to five or six Fellows per year.
Who can apply?
~ Applications are welcomed from developing country broadcasters.
~ The Scheme is aimed at those already operating at a senior level and who have the potential to move up to top management within their broadcast organisation. It is not for those already at the top of the tree, nor for junior production or management personnel. Such 'high-fliers' would normally be around 30-40 years of age (although by no means exclusively).
~ Fluency in written and spoken English
~ 2/3 years experience at a senior level of broadcasting with a clear upward career path
~ Top career potential
~ Sufficiently senior to be able to propose and implement change, with line management responsibility for programme producers/directors
~ Hands on broadcaster or manager (not an academic or theoretician)
~ Assertive and confident, and thus able and willing to engage actively in debate or dialogue with UK broadcasters
~ Has a practical and worthwhile idea of how the time in Britain might best be used
~ Has not participated in a similar Fellowship scheme before
~ Evidence of drive and motivation in your career and associated field of broadcasting
~ Please note that applicants must have permission from their organisations to be absent during this period.
