Just swiped your credit card at a hotel or keyed in your 16-digit credit card number along with the three-digit CVV (Card Verification Value) number provided at the back of your credit card to complete a cashless transaction?
You haven't? Then think twice before you decide to do so.
Credit card frauds are on an upswing these days; the 16-digit number, CVV, date of birth, credit card limit, residential address (stored on your card's magnetic tape) is all that is needed for someone to misuse your credit card.
However, if you are vigilant enough you can help avoid these frauds visiting upon you. For example, if you are using your card in a restaurant, accompany the waiter to the place where he swipes your credit card, complete the transaction and take your card back.
Do you know of any other ways in which you can help stop these frauds? Are you a victim of such frauds?
Will you stop using your credit cards for the fear of such frauds?
Who should pick the tab in such cases? You or the card issuer at whose ends the transaction is validated.
