Budgeting and planning

A self-proclaimed disorganised person, Mandira says she went more by instinct than a plan. She says, "I had a vision, a budget and a deadline. Guess the combination of the three made up of for the lack of plan!"

Mandira worked out the need for furniture before anything else. After that she budgeted for the accessories. "I distributed whatever was remaining from the amount after buying the furniture. There was no strict budget that I was following. But yes, there was a limit and it helped me prioritise."

She spent close to Rs 1 lakh on furniture, which also includes a three-piece wooden trunk with iron accents worth Rs 13,090 bought from Delhi, and a four-piece tribal sofa set for Rs 12,632 (a two-seater, two single-seaters and one coffee table) from Jodhpur.
