Where to stay

Plantations are the best places to stay while in Coorg. There are vast spice and coffee plantations in the suburbs of Medikeri, and one can stay at the home of an estate owner for as little as Rs 1,000 per day, inclusive of breakfast. One can stay at a plantation only if one knows the owners though, or by going through local travel agents.

Hotels

Orange County, Siddhapur: A five-star resort set amid 300 acres of spice and coffee plantations, with beautiful cottages. Rates start at Rs 8,000.

Crystal Court, Medikeri: Close to beautiful sightseeing spots and the local market, this hotel has big, airy rooms. Rates start at Rs 1,000.

Hotel Rajdarshan, Medikeri: It has 25 rooms, some of which overlook the green valley. Rates from Rs 800.

Hotel Hilltown: Has a variety of rooms from honeymoon suites to dormitories, all starting at Rs 800.

Home stays

Locals allow tourists to live in their homes for tariffs starting from Rs 600 a couple, per day. .
