Apple iPod Shuffle (512MB)

We're sorry. We couldn't help it. Blame Apple.

No feature on Mp3 players can, in all honesty, ignore the iPod. After all, it’s what spawned this madness to begin with.

Our pick, however, is the smaller shuffle. We picked it because it's the cheapest ticket to an iPod experience, with very little to seriously complain about.

A flash player (before the current Nano), the Shuffle weighs less than one ounce. It has no LCD screen (fitting one in there wouldn’t help at all anyway), and comes in two variants –- 512 MB and 1 GB.

Depending on where you buy it -- a certified store or a customs-notified shop -- you could be charged anything between Rs 6,000 and Rs 9,000.

The biggest USP here is simplicity. Switch on, press play, and let the music go in any order it wants to. It may not be the best choice, what with its limited capacity, but it's still a fun thing to have in your pocket or handbag.

Do try and handle those slow transfer speeds though.
