Baby (Jennifer Grey) visits a resort with her family on vacation and meets the hunky dance instructor Johnny (Patrick Swayze).

When his regular dance partner bails out on him, Baby steps in to dance a gig with him, or he may lose his job.

By and by, they fall in love, but the two hail from different social strata and there is opposition from all sides.

Watch out for some vigorous dance scenes and sensitive performances by Swayze and Grey.
