ou have had it with your hairstyle. You just can't wait to get a new look. And you want to have the latest and the best. After all, it is your hair we are talking about!

When someone first sees you, apart from the designer clothes and the diamonds, they see your face and your hair. And you have to look good.

Before you pick up the phone and set up the appointment with your favourite hairstylist, here is what you need to know about hair trends today.

ALL FOR GIRLS!

Your hair mantra

Bob's the way to go this season! Go for layers, softness and texturing within the bob. You cap that look with soft fringes too!

If curls are the natural you, let it curl! Don't straighten them out. There is charm in being naturally curly too!

If you wear your hair short, the curly exaggerated style is in.

Got long hair? Introduce yourself to the wonders of leave-in conditioner.

The haute colours

These colours should be your mantra this season: shades of brown, chocolate, cinnamon, caramel, purple.

Have you seen people with colour in triangular patches in their hair? Well, those are very in right now. So if you are the adventurous experimental kind, go for the triangle!

MEN ONLY!

Your hair mantra

Asymmetric it is. Leave a little hair on the face and a bit on the side. Go for a cut that gives you softness but still retains the manly feel.

Short is what you need to wear. Not as short as the Hrithik Roshan's look in Lakshya. Remember that film was made last year! You need to have length that is two-three months longer than that.

The haute colours

Brown and its shades.

If you love your hair...

1 Never walk out of your home in wet hair.

2 Never blow dry without a styling product like a blow dry lotion.

3 Never apply conditioner on the scalp.

4 Always shampoo and condition your hair.

All said and done, remember your individual style will always score best.

Kingsley Gomez, former style director, Juice (the guys responsible for the Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya looks), spoke to Archana Masih.
