Quite a few movies -- including dubbed Hollywood movies -- made it to the B1 to BB category of success. This category is also called commission earner to overflow, which means that the film makes 20 to 30 percent more than the investment.
Jodhaa Akbar, Don No 1 (dubbed), 10,000 BC (dubbed), Vishwa Yodha (dubbed), The Mummy: Dragon Shahensha Ka Makbara (dubbed), International Khiladi: The Iron Man (dubbed) and Bhai: The Lion (dubbed) fall in this category.
Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar worked because of Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and the grand scale on which it was made. The film proved to be too lengthy for Indian audiences, and worked better overseas. Usually, historical films don't make money at the box office.
The dubbed films worked primarily because of the action -- the cast did not matter. These films worked in smaller centres.
