It's been a weekend of books for the Bachchans.
First Look: Asking Ash out on a date
On Sunday, October 29, Abhishek Bachchan finally joined Aishwarya Rai in promoting JP Dutta's Friday release, Umrao Jaan.
The stars launched a book on the making of the film, and deftly avoided any questions about their much rumoured off-screen relationship. The rumours continue to intensify, even though cynics speculate this is merely because they have three films together releasing in November and December: Umrao Jaan, Dhoom:2 and Guru.
On Saturday, it was Amitabh Bachchan's turn at launching a book as he took the stage to release lyricist Sameer's biography.
Titled A Way With Words in English and Safarnama in Hindi, the biography, penned by Derek Bose, traces the life of the veteran songwriter, a man who has written the lyrics for over 500 films.
Sameer: Every song has a story
Bachchan emotionally commemorated Sameer's father, the late lyricist Anjaan. October 28 would have been his 75th birthday. Bachchan said that Anjaan had written for Amitabh, and now Sameer was writing for Abhishek -- Umrao Jaan happens to be a Sameer film, by the way -- he hopes this relationship carries on.
"I want to go immediately and tell my son Abhishek to make me a grandfather," said Bachchan, "so that we can carry the legacy forward."
