From guest appearance to hero

Sanjay Dutt

Director Ravi Dewan has extended Sanjay Dutt's role in his directorial venture Anarth.

Apparently, Dutt was cast for a special appearance initially. But since he liked the role, the director lenghtened it.

The film co-stars Sunil Shetty, Preeti Jhangiani and Shweta Menon.

Sarhadi directs Tana Bana

Atul Kulkarni

Writer-director Sagar Sarhadi has signed Atul Kulkarni, Sanjay Narvekar and Seema Biswas for his new film Tana Bana.

The film is based on a Marathi play Adhantar. It is produced by Shyam Gaikwad of Gypsy Movies.

Sarhadi had penned the highly acclaimed Smita Patil-starrer Bazaar.

Ketan Mehta creates history

Director Ketan Mehta is making a film based on the revolt of 1857.

The film titled 1857: The Rising will be divided into three episodes of 100 minutes each, scripted by Farokh Dondy.

Mehta intends to rope in A R Rahman for the music for this film. The cast has not been finalised yet.
