DCH, Lagaan, K3G lead IIFA nominations

Amitabh Bachchan announced the nominees for the Electrolux Kelvinator IIFA awards 2002 on Thursday in Mumbai.

In its third year, after London and Sun City, IIFA continues its mission of promoting Indian films globally. Last year the awards night, which was attended by the Bollywood's creme de la creme, was preceded by the world premiere of Lagaan.

Chandni Bar, Dil Chahta Hai, Gadar - Ek Prem Katha, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Lagaan haven been nominated in the best film category. Aamir Khan bagged two nominations for Dil Chahta Hai and Lagaan. He will compete with Amitabh Bachchan (Aks), Shah Rukh Khan (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) and Sunny Deol (Gadar - Ek Prem Katha) in the Best Actor Category.

The nominees for Actress in a Leading Role are Amisha Patel (Gadar - Ek Prem Katha), Gracy Singh (Lagaan), Kajol (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), Preity Zinta (Dil Chahta Hai) and Tabu (Chandni Bar).

The awards will be announced on April 6, 2002 at the Genting Highlands Resorts in Malaysia.

Shekhar in song

Actor Shekhar Suman is the latest actor to jump on to the bandwagon of actors turned singers.

He recently recorded the title track for Zee's game show Niilamghar Bid Bid Boom. Shekhar also hosts the programme.

Newcomer Deepak Chaudhary has composed the title track and has also penned the lyrics. Suman who rendered the song with Hema Sardesai, is planning to cut an album soon called Main.

Amar Upadhyay out of LoC

Amar Upadhyay is out of J P Dutta's Kargil flick LoC.

The actor, we hear, failed to turn up at he shoot in Ladhakh and court notices were issued against him.

Sur - The Melody of Life complete

Pooja Bhatt has wrapped up shooting for Sur -The Melody of Life.

Produced by Bhatt's Fish Eye Network and directed by Tanuja Chandra stars Lucky Ali, Gauri Karnik and Simone Singh.

Sur is slated for release soon.
