Lata Mangeshkar – Live in concert

Hyderabad will host a live concert by Lata Mangeshkar on March 9, after a gap of 40 years. The Nightingale last performed here in 1962 for a charity show.

Titled Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai, the concert will feature compositions by Roshan, Madan Mohan, S D Burman, R D Burman, Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Shiv Hari, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and AR Rahman among others.

The proceeds from the concert will go to the hospital the Mangeshkar children have built in Pune in their father Dinanath Mangeshkar’s memory.

Merchant-Ivory honoured at the BAFTA

Merchant-Ivory received one of British film industry's most prestigious honours, a Bafta Fellowship, at the Bafta Awards recently held in London.

A Guinness Book record holder for the longest running film partnership, the duo have made over 40 films so far, including A Room with a View in 1986, Howards End in 1992 and The Remains of the Day in 1993.

The other recipients of the BAFTA fellowship include David Lean, Charlie Chaplin, Stanley Kubrick, Sean Connery, Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Woody Allen, Federico Fellini and Steven Spielberg.

Ashutosh plays Shabnam Mausi

Ashutosh Rana Ashutosh Rana will be playing the role of a eunuch in Shabnam Mausi. The film is based on a true story of the first eunuch-MLA, Shabnam Mausi, who is an active member of the legislative assembly of Madhya Pradesh.

To be directed by Yogesh Bharadwaj, once assistant to JP Dutta, the film will also star Sayaji Shinde, Rajpal Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari, Vivek Shauq and Avtar Gill.

Perizaad will be the young Indira Gandhi

Perizaad Zorabian of Bollywood Calling is now set to play the young Indira Gandhi in an English film called Bandung Sonata, to be produced by China Film Group Corporation, China's largest film studio.

She is to leave shortly for a three-month schedule.
