A native of Hyderabad, Tabu was born Tabassum Hashmi on November 4. Her only claim to fame being elder sister and actress Farha.

An arts student from St Xaviers College, Mumbai, Tabu quit studies midway to join the Bollywood bandwagon.

Although Prem was to mark her debut, Pehla Pehla Pyaar, opposite Rishi Kapoor, turned out to be her maiden venture.

Unfortunately, for Tabu, both the films bombed at the BO.
