Hrithik’s AMALL to release in April
Shringar Films will release Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel’s Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage, in all circuits except Mumbai and its suburbs. The film was earlier with VIP Enterprises. In the meantime, we learn that AMALL will be releasing on April 14. While on releases, Boney Kapoor who is co-producing Ramgopal Varma’s Company has sold the distribution rights of the film in Mumbai to Ramesh Sippy of BRA Enterprises. Ajay Devgan will be releasing the film in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Company is also slated for an April release.
Ghai looking for a new face for his Arjun starrer
Subhash Ghai is looking for a new face to play the female lead for his film Majnu. The film, to be directed by Satish Kaushik, has Arjun Rampal playing the main lead. When contacted whether Aishwarya Rai or Preity Zinta will be playing the female lead in it, Ghai denied it saying, “I am looking for a new face.”
Divya Dutta in Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Divya Dutta, who has been away from films for sometime, will be seen in Sunny Deol’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh. She will be playing Bobby Deol’s sister-in-law in the film. Dutta has earlier done a period film in Punjabi Shaheed Bhoota Singh with Gurdas Mann.
Malini Sharma and Dino Morea in Bhatt's next
Mahesh Bhatt has signed Malini Sharma and Dino Morea for his forthcoming film. After getting rave reviews for her performance in Vikram Bhatt's Raaz, Bhatt has decided to cast Malini as the main lead opposite Dino Morea. The rest of the cast and crew have yet to be decided.
Bharat Shah case
The hearing of the Bharat Shah case in the Supreme Court will take place on March 4, 2002. It maybe recalled here that Shah had moved the Supreme Court asking the state to intervene in the bail plea of Shah on medical grounds.
The IIFA awards The first phase of the voting process for the Electrolux IIFA awards concluded at the Mariott hotel last Sunday. About 3000 members from the film fraternity cast their vote to nominate the candidates for the popular and technical awards. The nominations that arise out of this phase of the voting process will then be voted upon by Indian cinema buffs all over the world through the internet. The renowned audit firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, who are also the auditors of the Oscars, will do the audit of the votes. This year’s International Indian Film Award will be held in Malaysia on April 5 and will premier Aankhen, the Amitabh-Akshay-Arjun Rampal starrer that has been directed by Vipul Shah.
