Bend It Like Beckham scores at UK BO
The film also received the seventh highest opening ever for a British film in the UK. Bend It Like Beckham took over two million pounds in its opening weekend alone. The collections beat the openings of films like Shakespeare In Love, The Full Monty, Billy Elliot and East Is East.
Bollywood goes to the Big Apple Leading Bollywood personalities are expected to attend the fourth ZGold Bollywood Awards to be held in New York on June 29. Non-resident Indians in the US have begun nominating their favourite films and actors for the awards. On the basis of these nominations, a committee will draw up a list of three top contenders in each category and experts will make the final choice. Neil Prashad, vice-president of the Bollywood Awards and a leading executive of the Steven Seagal management team, said besides the leading actors and actresses in the Indian film industry, several American stars have agreed to attend and perform at the event.
Mads in Neena Gupta's Draupadi?
Neena Gupta, is all set to wield the directorial baton for her first feature film Draupadi. The film is produced by Pantaloon Films ( who also produced the Hrithik Roshan-Esha Deol starrer Na Tum Jaano Na Hum). Draupadi is based on an Oriya novel written by Pratibha Ray. And we hear that Madhuri Dixit has been offered the lead role in the film.
Milind Soman in Partho Ghosh's next
For Soman, Ghosh's film, is one of the many the actor has been offered after the success of 16th December. Although, Ghosh is yet to complete shooting his ongoing film Panchhi, the director is all ready to take his new film to the floors next month. Aadesh Srivastava will compose the music for the film. Dil Jo Na Keh Saka introduces new face Netanya as the female lead and will be ready for release by December 2002.
