A comic book for Sunny, Bobby
Egmont Imagination India Ltd has tied up with Vijayta Films for the launch of an entire range of products based on its forthcoming film - 23rd March 1931 Shaheed. Egmont has acquired world rights from Vijayta Films to publish and market the 23rd March 1931 Shaheed range of products, which include a graphic novel, a mask book, a mystic pencil book and colouring books for children. 23rd March 1931 Shaheed, one of the biggest budget films of the season, is based on the life of freedom fighter and martyr, Bhagat Singh. Bobby Deol plays the coveted title role of Bhagat Singh and elder brother Sunny Deol plays the crucial role of Chandrashekhar Azad. Egmont has successfully launched the Lagaan range of merchandise and the products for the unreleased film Badhaai Ho Badhaai is expected for launch in May
Lal Salaam postponed
Directed by Gaganvihari Borate, the film stars Nandita Das and Sharad Kapoor. The films touches upon the issue of the Naxalites and the topic, it was reported, could inflict fresh wounds amongst the fanatic masses. Karambelkar agreed to release of his film at a later date and has also removed posters so as not to spark off conflicts.
Shekhar Suman plays Bobby Deol's mother
David Dhawan's latest Chor Machaye Shor has actor Shekhar Suman don on seven crazy comic getups including those of a Sardarji, a theatre guru, a hippy, a tawaif, pop diva Madonna, an underworld don and hero Bobby Deol's mother! Suman also plays the Indian James Bond in a big-budget action serial called XYZ, which has been shot in Malaysian. XYZ has been directed by Ananth Mahadevan.
Tribute to Bimal Roy A special musical tribute to Bimal Roy has been organised by The Bimal Roy Memorial Trust to welcome the Bengali new year on April 13. Tushar Bhatia will present works of outstanding film music composers from Bengal. Bhatia will also speak on composers S D Burman and Salil Chaudhuri who worked in close association with Roy.
