Cannes to honour Raj Kapoor

The Cannes film festival has decided to honour the late doyen of Hindi cinema, Raj Kapoor. This is the first time that Cannes will honour a deceased filmmaker.

A tribute-cum-retrospective of Raj Kapoor's films has been organised for the festival that gets underway on May 16.

Three of the director's most famous films, Awaara, Barsaat and Shree 420, have been slated for the retrospective.

Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, the granddaughters of the director and film stars in their own right, will represent Raj Kapoor on the famous Montees des Marches, where the personality being honoured walks up red-carpeted steps to receive his award.

Sonali out of Kya Masti Kya Dhoom?

Actress Sonali Bendre has hushed down rumours that she is set to leave her television game show Kya Masti Kya Dhoom.

There has been talk for a while now that Sonali didn't have time to balance her film career with her work on the small screen.

But the actress quashed the rumours and said that she wasn't planning on quitting the show.

AB, SRK, Aamir to attend IIFA

SRK Bollywood's biggest names are preparing to fly out to Malaysia for this year's IIFA awards.

50 film personalities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Twinkle Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Amisha Patel, Lucky Ali and Raveena Tandon, have confirmed that they will be attending the third annual International Indian Film Awards, which will be held at the Genting Highlands Resort in Malaysia on April 6, 2002.

Jagmohan Mundhra honoured by IIT

Jagmohan Mundhra, well-known film writer, producer and director, whose recent film, Bawandar won International accolades, was selected to get the Distinguished Alumnus Award by his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB).

Jagmohan graduated from IITB in 1968, before going to the US for post-graduate studies and doctorate in Motion Pictures.

The Award was accepted by his brother, Braj Mundhra, as Jagmohan is convalescing in USA, following a major orthopedic operation.
