AB to quit KBC?

Amitabh Bachchan Amitabh Bachchan may quit the hugely popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati in April 2002.

Before leaving for Los Angeles for a 90-day schedule for Kaante, Bachchan hinted he may not continue anchoring after .

His contract expires after 390 episodes. And over 270 of these have been completed.

Bachchan is excited about Kaante, Sanjay Gupta's all-male ensemble thriller also featuring Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Kumar Gaurav, singer Lucky Ali and director Mahesh Manjrekar in lead roles.

AB plays a retired major of the army who plans a bank robbery. This will also be his first collaboration with a Hollywood crew.

Monsoon Wedding to feature at Bangalore Film Festival

Mira Nair Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding, which was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, will feature at the International Film Festival of India to be held in Bangalore next month.

This will be the film's first screening in India. The commercial release has been slated for February 2002.

Mira Nair's vision of an elaborate and colourful wedding in Punjab may be chosen as the closing film of the festival.

Preeti Jhangiani in Na Tum Jaano Na Hum?

After the Rajshree film, starlet Preeti Jhangiani will be putting in special appearance in the Hrithik Roshan-Esha Deol starrer Na Tum Jaano Na Hum which is directed by Arjun Sablok.

Smita Thackeray for President

Smita Thackeray Smita Thackeray plans on contesting for the post of the President of the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association at its annual general meeting on September 21.

The others vying for the post include Sawan Kumar Tak, K D Shorey and B S Shad.

But with Thackeray in the fray, Tak and Shorey have decided to favour her while the others have made a quiet exit.
