Karisma to star opposite Abhishek?
Jagmohan Mundhra, producer of Nandita Das starrer Bavandar, has already begun work on his next project -- Bardasht. Again he explores the issues plaguing Indian women. We hear that he's already approached Karisma Kapoor for a lead in his film and we have reason to believe that he's considered signing Abhishek and Saif Ali Khan to star opposite her her.
Venus shuts shop Venus has decided to quit the film distribution business. The film that were to be released through Venus' distribution channels have now be rerouted. Ashok Mehta’s Moksha will be distributed through Shringar Films on a commission basis. Padmalaya’s Aamdani Athani Kharcha Rupaiya, Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai, Mahesh Manjrekar’s Pratibimb and its own home production starring Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Amisha Patel will be distributed by another agency.
Dimple and Maneka join forces
Dimple Kapadia, the actress-turned-candle-maker, has joined forces with Maneka Gandhi in her crusade for Animal rights. She recently appeared with Gandhi to announce a fundraising exhibition of her candles for a veterinary hospital, Ashari, near Calcutta.
The return of the Dancing Queen
Hema had earlier portrayed the mythological characters Mira and Durga through her recitals. But, with Draupadi she uses dance, music and drama to highlight contemporary woman's issues.
