Farewell, Jack Lemmon.
Lemmon received a total of eight Academy Award nominations for his work in films like for his roles in Some Like It Hot; The Apartment; Days of Wine and Roses; Tribute and Missing. Only Jack Nicholson, Spencer Tracy and Sir Laurence Olivier received more nominations. He was the first man ever to win Oscars as both Best Actor (Save the Tiger, 1973) and Best Supporting Actor (Mister Roberts, 1955), the only Best Actor winner who has directed another performer to a nomination for that award (Walter Matthau in Kotch, 1971), and the only actor to have been presented with the Best Actor Award twice at the Cannes Film Festival (for Missing and The China Syndrome.) His performances in Irma La Douce, Mister Roberts and The Odd Couple will always be remembered. One happy family -- On the sets of Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai
Ask Abhishek Bachchan. The actor on the sets of Goldie Behl's Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai would be reminded, every now and again to sit straight by Goldie and producer Srishti Behl. "He has terrible back problem; he keeps forgetting about it! So, one has to keep reminding me over and over again!" As for Chotta B; he hung around even after his shots were over. Watching movies in his fancy van while waiting for Goldie, Srishti and Sameer to wrap up, so he could spend some time off camera chilling with his chums! A cameo for Kamal
It was KB who introduced Kamal to Tamil cinema, and the latter has always insisted that the ace director is his mentor. The two, though, appeared to hit a rough patch a couple of years ago, when KB failed to turn up for the high-profile launch of Kamal's prestigious home production Marudanaayakam -- which was flagged off by the Queen of England. KB, however, is understood to have clarified later that his no-show had nothing to do with Kamal, and everything to do with a complete boycott of all filmi functions following some misunderstandings within the industry. By way of mending fences, the director personally visited Kamal to request him to play a role -- and the latter obliged, signing on for a comedy part. Efforts are now on to rope in Rajnikanth, that other superstar from the KB stable, to play a similar cameo. Vijay Shanti -- The Female Amitabh
They call Vijay Shanti the 'Female Amitabh' -- and increasingly, none of the macho heroes of the Telugu screen are willing to act opposite her, given her appeal and scene-stealing potential. But a film needs a hero -- or at least, a male co-star. So, director Suresh Varma after much searching, managed to rope in Napoleon, the TN character actor who hit the headlines with his role of presumed deaf-mute in Sollamale, to pair with the lady with the flying fists. The two will head the cast of Sivaani -- the story of a man and a woman who defend young love against the will of an entire community. That Vijay Shanti will do the bulk of the defending, of course, goes without saying. Ishita Arun -- A star in the making?
This B4U channel VJ will make his foray into Hindi cinema with Eka Ek opposite Sameer Soni and has also been signed up for the Viveck Vaswani film Dil Vil Pyar Vyaar. We'll keep our fingers crossed. Perhaps she'll be one of those telly-babes, who can really act.
