Overdoing his PR
Abhishek Bachchan doesn't need a promotion agent. At the Bus Itna Sa Khwaab Hai press meet, he made it a point at the beginning to apologise for the delay and at again at the end again to thank the press for covering the event.
Agreed that the star is humble...but the manner in which he went about the whole affair seemed pretentious.
If he hopes to score brownie points with the media in the future, all he has to do is be punctual.
Sushmita Sen who also stars with Abhishek in the movie, was all praise for her fellow-actors, especially Bachchan Jr.
With such "universal" support, 'the heck with PR agencies' is all we have to say!
Sonali Bendre to turn TV host
Sonali Bendre, the Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega actress will now host Kya Masti Kya Dhoom, based on the popular Boogie Woogie on Star Plus.
She roped in Dil Chahta Hai stars, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna, to judge the show.
It looks like a case of real life imitating reel life for Bendre, who played a VJ in the recent, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai.
Hope she has better luck than Manisha!
Aftab's prayer -- Luck be a lady this year!
Aftab Shivdasani is on the road to repair. He had a run of real bad luck in the past couple of weeks; he injured his foot on the sets, lost his mobile and even managed to dent his ride.
But, the unfortunate times seem to have passed -- he has a new phone and a repaired car. Hope Lady Luck will continue to smile on the budding actor as he just turned a year older.
20 Plus -- Bangalore boys have their own film
Following in the footsteps of Hyderabad Blues director Nagesh Kukunoor, come three Bangalore boys who are raring to go with their debut multi-lingual film 20 Plus.
A Boiled Beans presentation, the film deals with the dilemma of the Indian youth of today.
It will also feature music from KK, Bombay Vikings and Colour Blind.
Satya Prasad Barua no more
One of modern Assam's most prominent theatre personalities, Satya Prasad Barua, passed away on Tuesday. He was 84, and is survived by wife and two daughters. Barua was a dramatist, critic, novelist and poet all in rolled into one.
A recipient of several awards including the Sangeet Natak Academy award for playwriting and the prestigious Srimanta Sankaradeva award, the former Director of Assam government's Department of Culture, Barua will be remembered for his Assamese plays, Mrinal Mahi, Kalpanar Mrityu and Sikha, as well as his noted English dramas Crossfire, Bridge and Desire.
His plays were aired often by the Doordarshan Kendra and were also broadcast by All India Radio.
