Malaika to sizzle on screen

Arbaaz Khan's gorgeous wife and MTV VJ Malaika, is all set to let the screen on fire in an Indo-French film, if the rumour mills are to be believed. Italian director Roberto Begnini, director and hero of Life Is Beautiful has approached her on behalf of an Italian production.

The offer from the Oscar winning director came after the latter's desire to cast an Indian girl to play the role of a mystical princess in his forthcoming venture. This will be Malaika's (better known as the Chhaiya Chhaiyan girl) first foray into films as the leading lady.

Shah Rukh's one up on Aamir

When Aamir's Lagaan was seen by the PM, the news spread like wild fire in the industry. Shah Rukh Khan, producer and lead star of the Santosh Sivam directed film Ashoka The Great, decided to go a step further.

He screened the film at Tokyo film festival, where the audiences went gaga over it and even gave it a standing ovation.

It's a boy!

The stork visited Tanya and Bobby Deol on Sunday, at Bombay's Breach Candy Hospital. Tanya gave birth to their son at 14:30, who weighed in at 9lbs.

As decided earlier, Bobby will christen his son Aryaman. There were no complications and Tanya is reported to be fine. The entire Deol family was also present for the delivery, to celebrate with the proud parents.

Singer Actor ...er... Actor Singer

The actor-turned-singer phenomenon was not just a bolt out of the blue. Inspired by Aamir's song in Ghulam and Sanjay Dutt in Vaastav, director Karan Johar has decided to let Amitabh sing in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, to his reel and real life heroine -- Jaya. Jaya replies back in equal gusto. This duet will be one to watch out for!

Also adding to this list of singers is Juhi Chawla. After the birth of her baby, Juhi has been doing a lot of singing to the little one. Hubby Jai who heard her, recommended that she try her hand at singing for Hindi films too. A career change for the gorgeous gal…one would hope not.

A number of crooners seem to be moving on to cinema too, with Shaan, Palash Sen and Lucky Ali leading the pack. Role reversal… that's the latest filmi mantra!

Jaddu's found his match

The search for the maiden is over... Miss India Celina Jaitley will play sweetheart to cricketer-turned-hero Ajay Jadeja and Sunil Shetty in the Pammi Sandhu produced yet untitled movie. Guess he was bowled over by her charms. But will the pairing prove to be a match made in heaven? Time alone will tell.

Poor poor Salman!

Four months after the release of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Salman Khan is yet to get his money.

After the financier of the film Bharat Shah and the producer of the film Nasim Rizvi was arrested, the court appointed a court receiver to deal with the release of the film and to deposit the profits into the State treasury.

Salman appealed to the court to recover his dues, amounting to Rs 25 lakh. Salman's total fee for the film was 1.50 crore, of which he only received Rs1.25 crore.

Kallu Mama turns Director

Actor and scriptwriter Saurabh Shukla (Kallu Mama) of Satya fame has now turned director. Amod Sinha, son of veteran producer Vinay Sinha and Sai Deodhar, daughter of Debu and Shraboni Deodhar, will play the leads in his film called Janeman Jaan Le Tu, produced by Nanak Chand and Priti Sinha. Danny Denzongpa, Om Puri, Johnny Lever, Rajat Kapoor and Paresh Rawal have also been cast.
