The Aks premiere and launch party

Amitabh Bachchan The Big B, escorted by comrade Amar Singh was present with daughter Shweta Bachchan, husband Nikhil Nanda and her in-laws at the premiere of Aks in Delhi. Director Rakesh Mehra and co-star Manoj Bajpai were present too.

People started walking out of the Siri Fort Auditorium, in Delhi where the premiere of Aks was held, even before the film was over. And it wasn't only because of a small fire in the hall, which prevented the entire film from being screened.

After the screening, the cast and the crew of the film had a sedate party to celebrate the release at the Le Meridien. Leading ladies Raveena Tandon and Nandita Das gave the do a skip.

Urmila does item number for Lajja at Santoshi's request again

Urmila Chamma Chamma Urmila will do the jig again in Rajkumar Satoshi's latest, Lajja.

The Matondkar girl has been roped in for an item number for the film already starring Madhuri Dixit, Rekha, Manisha Koirala, Mahima and Aishwarya Rai.

Her last and only special appearance was also in Santoshi's China Gate.

Aamir Khan to read at literary festival in London

Aamir Khan Hindi cinema star Aamir Khan will be reading extracts from books on the subject of beauty at Clerkenwell's annual literary festival next week in East London.

The festival starts on Monday July 16, runs until Sunday July 22 and includes The Clerkenwell 10, an exhibition of art inspired by the poems of Sylvia Plath.

Dev Anand for film on Nepal royal massacre

Dev Anand Guide star Dev Anand has decided to zoom in on the recent past to the sensational massacre of the royal family in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, as the subject for his next film. The evergreen 77-year-old Anand, is on the lookout for fresh faces for the still untitled film which he says will recreate the June 1 bloodbath.

He said he thought the subject was sensitive but stunning enough to interest audiences as it had its share of romantic intrigue too.
