K3G has spectacular opening

The initial response to Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has been mixed. But undoubtedly the film has been faring exceptionally well at the BO turnstiles.

Trade analysts reported that the film had 100 per cent openings across the country. And the first week tickets are all sold out and the film is expected to ride on the advance bookings. We hear that tickets for the first day shows sold for as much as Rs 1200 at a suburban cinema hall in Mumbai.

The film industry finally has reason to rejoice!

Asha wants to return to her classical roots

Asha Bhosle will soon embark on her dream mission by recording pure classical and theatre music for posterity.

Bhosle said she was talking to a few music companies to finalise the details of the project. A world record holder for the largest number of songs, she is also halfway through her autobiography -- Aap Ki Asha which is due for publication in 2003.

Raj goes to Bollywood

Bal Thackeray's nephew Raj has also succumbed to the Bollywood bug. We hear that Raj has decided to turn producer for a Hindi film, based on the life of Maratha king Shivaji.

Incidentally, Raj's grandfather Prabodhankar Thackeray was an actor and even produced plays, and his father Shrikant Thackeray has also produced two films and is a well known music director.

Film fest on Women's empowerment

A four-day long film festival dedicated to women, organised as part of 'Women's Empowerment Year Celebrations', would be held in Thiruvananthapuram from December 20.

12 feature films and seven short films would be screened during the festival titled 'Mukta', organised jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals of India, State Film Development Corporation and Chalachitra film society.

Charulatha, Kairee, Paroma, Mirchi Masala and Moksha are some of the films that will be exhibited.
