Seagal fights animal cruelty in India Hollywood actor Steven Seagal (Under Siege) has urged Indian legislators to support laws which would prevent cruelty to animals, especially at slaughterhouses. He said that cruelty in Gandhi's homeland had shocked the world. In a letter dated July 30, sent to lawmakers, he said proposed amendments to the prevention of cruelty to animal act, would restore the world's confidence in India's compassion for animals. The letter was released by People For Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) which spearheads campaigns for boycott of leather goods from India because of alleged cruel conditions under which animals are transported to slaughterhouses.
