She is Shilpa Shetty's younger sister.

That is not Shamita Shetty's only claim to fame.

She also debuts in Yash Chopra's Mohabbatein.

Young, vivacious and confident, Shamita is also a fabulous dancer. People who have had a sneak preview of the film are already raving over Shamita's dancing.

All the better for Runima Borah Tandon to make a song and dance of Shamita Shetty in Mohabbatein. Excerpts from the conversation:

Mohabbatein is your debut film. How do you feel about it releasing in just about two days from now?

Great. I'm very excited about it. It's a very good film, and I've seen it recently.

I hope the audience likes it, too, and they accept me.

Tell us about your character in Mohabbatein.

I play Ishika Dhanrajgir. I have been cast opposite Uday Chopra, who plays Vicky.

Ishika is a normal 16- year-old schoolgoing girl -- spoilt, arrogant. She is a fabulous dancer.

The film has such a vast canvas of characters as well as big stars like Shah Rukh and Amitabh Bachchan. Where do you all fit in? Do you think it is the right film to make your debut?

I'm very happy to be a part of this film. It's a Yash Chopra banner.

I have always been a big fan of all his films. And to be a part of a film that has such a great starcast like Amitji, Shah Rukh and Aishwarya was a really nice experience in itself.

It was huge learning process working with all of them. I didn't really get a chance to work with Amitji and Shah Rukh.

But whatever little I worked with them during the songs, I think they're just great.

So many of you are being introduced. Do you feel the director has done justice to all of you?

All six characters in the film are very different from one another. Each one of us has an important role to play in the film. I think he has done justice to each one of us.

What have you learnt from this experience?

First of all, we were given a lot of training. Everything was pre-planned and well organised.

We attended a 15-day acting workshop conducted by Barry John.

We also rehearsed a lot of our scenes with Aditya Chopra. He is a great director and he knows exactly what he wants and he will not stop till he gets what he wants.

Do you have any special memories of working in this film?

Working on each and every scene in this film has been a memorable experience.

But there is this dance sequence in the film. It is a three-way music piece. It's a short dance sequence with no words.

It was a lot of fun doing that especially because I love dancing. We finished that sequence in a day.

And I will always remember my introduction scene. It was shot abroad. I had no dialogues. All I had to do was turn and give my hero a look. The only reason I remember it is because it was terribly cold in London and I had to give this expression which I found incredibly difficult to wear. I will never forget that because it took us so long to shoot that scene.

What have you learnt from your sister Shilpa?

She has been in this field for a pretty long time now. I guess I have learnt a lot from her especially from her mistakes.

She works so hard. I have seen her at work. It feels very nice to have a sister around in the same profession. I feel quite protected that way.

Have you signed oter any films?

No. I am not allowed to sign any films until Mohabbatein releases. Offers have been coming my way but I would rather wait.
