Chasing Vijayakanth

Then, a car with its headlights on barged into the hospital compound. There were well-built men dressed in black hanging from both sides of the vehicle, commanding people to move and clear the way. It was followed by a Tata Safari that screeched to a halt close to the entrance of the hospital. Suddenly all those who were there for treatment surrounded the vehicle shouting, 'Captain, Captain...'

Captain got out of the vehicle, did a namaste to the crowd and went inside the hospital.

The party worker Shaktivel was lying in the general ward upstairs with bandages on his head and hands. Vijayakanth and his wife spoke to him while Balakumar briefed his party leader about what was happening in the constituency. After a while, as the troubled looking Vijayakanth walked back to the car, I ran to him, and requested for an interview. He mumbled something and went ahead. His wife who was campaigning for him separately asked me to follow him. By the time we reached down and got into our vehicle, there was no sight of Vijayakanth's Tata Safari.
