After movie and small screen actors, it was the turn of cricket star Ashish Nehra to endorse a friend as a candidate in the Delhi assembly election.
The Delhi paceman on Thursday made an appearance at a press conference in favour of Nikhil Nanda, a Samajwadi Party candidate contesting from the Badarpur constituency.
Nehra, however, maintained that his support to Nanda did not reflect his political affiliations.
"Nanda is a family friend and that is why I decided to appeal to the people to elect him. It has nothing to do with the party he represents," Nehra said.
He also said he had no intention of joining politics in the near future.
Nehra, who leaves Thursday night to join his teammates in Mumbai before their departure for the Australian tour, refused to take any questions on cricket.
The 31-year-old Nanda is the son of H C Nanda, owner of Sunehari Svendgaard Labs, which manufactures Oral-B toothbrushes in India.
