Tripura: Left gets one more seat

Ramendra Chandra Debnath, Minister of state for Handloom and Handicrafts beat Bibha Nath [Congress] by 602 votes in Juvarajnagar constituency in Tripura where repolling was held on Monday in one booth.

State Chief Electoral Officer Debashis Sircar said that Debnath secured 11,965 votes and his rival 11,363 votes.

Repolling had been ordered in this booth after one of the electronic voting machines developed a technical snag during the counting. The booth had 984 voters.

With the last result going in favour of the ruling Left Front its tally rose to 41 in the 60-member house.

Opposition Congress-Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura combine has bagged 19 seats.
