Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday afternoon at the Sher-e-Kashmir Convention Centre in Srinagar.
Governor Girish Chander Saxena will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mufti at a simple ceremony that will be attended Congress president Sonia Gandhi, among others.
"All arrangements for the oath taking ceremony have been completed and the security arrangements are in place to deal with any eventuality," A K Suri, director general of the Jammu and Kashmir police told rediff.com.
Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party sources said only a few Cabinet ministers, including the deputy chief minister, would be inducted in the first round.
"Earlier we had plan to induct thirteen ministers on Saturday. But this idea has been dropped because ministers from Jammu wanted to be sworn in Jammu only. Hence only a few ministers would be sworn in today," a top PDP leader said.
Independent MLAs who constitute a sizeable section have decided not to be a part of the Cabinet as they are upset with the proportion of the representation offered to them.
