Rishang Keishing loses Phungyar seat

Election 2002

Manipur's longest-serving chief minister and senior Congress leader Rishang Keishing was defeated by Manipur State Congress Party nominee Wungnaoshang in Phungyar assembly constituency.

In Kumbi assembly seat, CPI nominee and former Agriculture minister N Mangi Singh defeated BJP candidate Angousana Singh by over 300 votes.

Democratic Revolutionary People's Party nominee N Biren defeated MSCP candidate Y Mangi Singh in Heingang assembly constituency by over 100 votes.

In Konthoujam assembly constituency Democratic Revolutionalry People's Party candidate Th Meinya defeated former finance minister and Manipur State Congress Party candidate Henam Lokhon by over 700 votes.
