Vikas Yadav defeated in Bisauli, UP

Election 2002

Vikas Yadav, an accused in the abduction and subsequent murder of a bureaucrat's son, Nitish Katara, lost in Bisauli assembly constituency in Budau district, Uttar Pradesh.

Vikas, the son of Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav, was the candidate of the Rashtriya Parivartan Dal floated by his father. He was defeated by Samajwadi Party's Yogendra Kumar.

Vikas had allegedly murdered Katara after abducting him from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on February 16.

He is also an accused in the Jessica Lal murder case and was out on bail to canvass for the elections.

Vikas was arrested from Gwaliar on Saturday.
