TUJS to back BJP

The Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti, which last month broke off its 17-year alliance with the Congress, has decided to support the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha election.

This follows BJP president Shashikant 'Kushabhau' Thakre's assurance to the TUJS that its demands will be considered sympathetically.

In a signed statement issued in New Delhi today, TUJS general secretary Rabindra Debbarma, MLA, said his party believes the "BJP is the only party that can solve the problems of tribals in Tripura as the party leaders are sincere and sympathetic to our problems".

"We consider Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee an able and honest leader who can deal with the problems of the people of the whole country," Debbarma added.
