Mulayam blames Congress for formation of NDA government

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today blamed the Congress for the installation of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre.

Talking to newsmen, he said the misinformation campaign launched by the Congress only helped the bharatiya janata party and its allies in the recently held elections. Reiterating his earlier stand, the Samajwadi Party president said the Congress and the BJP were always complementary to each other. ''Even the performance of my party would have been better in Uttar Pradesh had the Congress not indulged in spreading rumours against the party during electioneering'', he alleged. ''The BJP used to be an expert in propagating false information but now the Congress has surpassed it in this dirty game''.

The Congress failed in dividing the Muslim votes against the Samajwadi Party, Yadav pointed out. ''Still my party could have got few more seats in UP but for the misinformation campaign of the Congress'', he observed.

In reply to a question, the former defence minister claimed that if his party had won a total of forty Lok Sabha seats, the third front government would have become a reality at the Centre.
