When readers encountered 'God of Cricket' Tendulkar

On the occasion of Sachin Tendulkar's 40th birthday, we present readers' photographs with the batting ace.

'I had the pleasure of meeting the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar in Landour, Mussoorie. Sachin landed in Landour immediately after announcing his retirement from international cricket.

"He was every bit the gentleman I had imagined him to be, extremely courteous and calm. We spent some quality time over lunch and later in the evening I got to watch the India-Pakistan Twenty20 match with him in the hotel lobby. It truly was a surreal experience I will always cherish,' wrote Kshitij.

After announcing retirement from One-Day Internationals, Tendulkar headed straight for hill station Mussoorie in Uttarakhand, where he celebrated Christmas and the New Year.

'We met Sachin Tendulkar at the Mumbai International airport while the Indian team was departing to Bangladesh for the Test series. In this picture Sachin is with my wife Rini,' he wrote in January 2010.

'I am an employee at a laptop repair service centre in Bangalore. I had an opportunity to service Sachin Tendulkar's laptop at his hotel suite when he was in Bangalore for fitness training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

'It was one of the greatest opportunities I got to serve as local physiotherapist along with physio John Gloster for three days (April 7, 8, 9 2005) during the Indian cricket team's visit to Jamshedpur for the third ODI against Pakistan.

'Yesterday (Sunday) while flying back from London to Washington DC, we spotted Sachin Tendulkar at Heathrow airport. He was flying back home after the India-England series. Despite being in a hurry to get on to the plane, he was very patient in posing for the pictures, especially for the first one, when the passerby photographer accidentally switched the camera off instead of pressing the click button,' wrote Mahesh in September 2007.

'It rained in the first session of the first day of a Test match at Hamilton, New Zealand, between India and NZ in March 1994. Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli were standing in line outside this burger van at the ground, and I was right behind them. Sachin was nice enough to agree for this photo that my wife Kamesh took. Fortunately we had a camera with us! This was on March 19, 1994 -- 12+ years ago! The match ended in a draw. Even though India was positioned for a possible victory!' wrote Gopi.

'Here is a photograph of myself (Mehak Vashist) with Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan when they were in Auckland. This picture was taken at the Sky Tower. I also got a chance for a small conversation with Sachin where he mentioned that New Zealand is one the most beautiful countries.

'As Zaheer is very tall and he was nearly covering Sachin up while we were posing for the camera, Sachin told Zaheer in Marathi to get aside. Where Zaheer was unfriendly, Sachin was very humble and polite,' wrote Mehak in April 2009.
