Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen failed put up a challenging total, but their bowlers turned in a scintillating show to earn them victory in their opening IPL match against Pune Warriors, in Hyderabad,on Friday night.
Put in to bat, they were restricted to 126 for 6, but their bowlers produced a disciplined performance to bundle out the Warriors for 104 in 18.5 overs and win by 22 runs.
Dale Steyn claimed three wickets in the 19th over to finish off the Warriors' innings.
The South African fast bowler conceded just 11 runs in his 3.5 overs, while leg spinner Amit Mishra claimed three for 19 runs from four and Thisara Perera two for 29 in four.

Openers Parthiv Patel and Akshath Reddy put on 32 in five overs and it looked as if the home side were on course for a handsome total.
However, they lost their way after the former was bowled by Ashok Dinda in the sixth over for 19.
Sangakkara deceived by the flight

Sunrisers captain Kumar Sangakkara departed in the 10th over after scoring 15.
He was deceived by leg-spinner Rahul Sharma. The flighted delivery beat the batsman as he charged out, turned and hit middle stump.
Yuvraj strikes

Akshath Reddy came down the pitch to a quicker delivery from Yuvraj Singh. Nowhere near the line or the length of ball, he played all over and looked behind to find his off stump uprooted. He scored 27.
Cameron White's mighty heave not enough

Cameron White went for a big swing against Marlon Samuels but couldn't clear Mitchell Marsh at deep midwicket and was out for 10.
Perera ends Uthappa's offensive

Robin Uthappa looked good for a big knock before being checked by Thisara Perera in the seventh over.
After hitting two fours and a six while scoring 24 off 22 deliveries, he chased a delivery going outside off, only to edge it and give wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel a simple catch.
Perera had top-scored earlier with an 18-ball 30, which was includive of three fours and a six.
Mishra has Yuvraj with a beauty

Amit Mishra sent down a beauty and Yuvraj Singh fell for it.
The bowler, knowing very well that the batsman would give him the charge, sent down a flat delivery that turned down the leg side. Yuvraj was beaten and Parthiv Patel was quick to take off the bails.
Steyn finishes off Warriors

South Africa pacer Dayle Steyn dashed whatever hopes the Warriors may have entertained of winning by claiming three wickets in four deliveries in the 19th over.
He first dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the second delivery of the 19th over at the score of 104-8, and then sent back Rahul Sharma and Ashok Dinda at the same score, the last wicket coming after missing the hat-trick on the fourth ball.
