MS Dhoni's 113 not out against Pakistan in the first One-dayer in Chennai was without doubt one of the most resilient innings in the 50-over format.

En route to what was his eighth one-day hundred, Dhoni also surpassed 7,000 runs in ODIs.

The 31-year-old achieved the milestone io his 211th match (188th innings).

The captain thereby became only the seventh Indian batsman, and 32nd overall, to achieve the feat.

Rediff.com takes a look at the other Indian batsmen who preceded Dhoni in the elite club.

Sachin Tendulkar

Any record in Indian cricket is incomplete without the mention of Sachin Tendulkar.

The Master Blaster has broken almost every record in the modern game and consequently finds a place in almost every list.

He reached the 7,000-run mark in his 196th match, courtesy a magnificent 128 against Sri Lanka at the Premadas stadium in Colombo back in 1998.

With an aggregate of 18,426 runs in a record 463 One-day appearances (@44.83), Tendulkar is the world's highest run scorer in the 50-over format.

Sadly, he won't add to that aggregate, having announced his One-day retirement ahead of the ongoing series against Pakistan.

Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly besides being one of India's best captains, also happened to be a great player in the one-day format.

In 311 ODIs, Ganguly totaled an impressive 11,363 runs (@ 41.02) with 22 hundreds and 72 fifties.

The left-hander reached the 7,000-run milestone in his 180th ODI, courtesy an impressive 111 against Kenya at Boland Park in 2001.

Ganguly remains the fastest Indian to reach the landmark.

Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid probably didn't get as much respect as a one-day player as he deserved.

Considered a Test player for a large part of his career, Dravid piled up an impressive One-day record as well.

An aggregate of 10, 889 runs in 344 matches (@39.17), with a dozen hundreds and 83 fifties, are impressive numbers by all means.

The Wall, as Dravid was referred to for his resilient batting, reached the 7,000-run mark in his 223rd match, against Australia at the MCG in 2004.

He made 12 in the said match.

Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin had a long and illustrious career in the One-day version, spanning a decade and a half.

It is therefore, not very surprising to see his name on this list.

With a total of 9,378 runs in 308 ODIs (@36.92), with seven hundreds and 58 fifties, the former Indian captain exceled in the shorter format.

Azhar reached the 7,000-run mark during his innings of 34 against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club (in Colombo) in August 1997.

The match was his 252nd ODI appearance.

Virender Sehwag

It is not a surprise to see Virender Sehwag's name in this list. Is it?

The flamboyant opening batsman has thus far in his career aggregated 8242 runs in 250 matches, with 15 centuries and 38 fifties.

The 34-yaer-old reached the 7,000 runs milestone during his innings of 42 against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in January 2010.

It was Sehwag's 219th ODI appearance.

Yuvraj Singh

He may not have been able cement his place in the Test squad even after a decade but when it comes to the shorter formats, Yuvraj Singh is a pivot in the Indian side.

His all-round display won India a second world title last year besides earning him the man of the series honours.

His One-day record makes for a good read: 8,053 runs in 275 ODIs (@37.62), with 13 centuries and 49 fifties.

The 31-year-old batsman reached the 7,000-run milestone during his innings of 35 against West Indies at Sabina Park in June 2009.

It was Yuvraj's 234th One-day appearance.
