Chasing a mammoth 170 for victory, Delhi were on the backfoot early in their innings after losing David Warner in the second over and never recovered.
The quick dismissals of Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag off consecutive deliveries virtually dashed whatever hopes the home side may have entertained of registering their first victory in this sixth edition of the cash-rich T20 tournament.
Mohit Sharma, the 24-year-old Haryana pacer, struck early, dismissing opener David Warner off the third ball off his first over. He struck again three balls later, this time accounting for Manpreet Juneja (2).

But what dented Delhi's charge was Mahela Jayawardene's wicket. The Sri Lankan ace was dismissed by Chris Morris. The big South African had the Delhi skipper trapped leg before for 6.
Then, in the next over Mohit sent back Sehwag, who was caught in the deep by Mike Hussey after scoring 17.
With Sehwag also gone at 30-4, after only 5.1 overs, Delhi's challenge was finished.
The Chennai bowlers maintained their disciplined line and length to take the side home comfortably.
