It was Mitchell Johnson yet again who destroyed England’s batting line up and thus shattered the tourist’s hopes of a series-levelling win in the second Test in Adelaide on Saturday.

Mitchell Johnson's seven-wicket haul skittled England for 172 and put Australia in complete control.

It was one of the great Ashes bowling spells and thus handed Australia a massive 398-run innings lead.

Johnson played a crucial role and earned the man-of-the-match for his performance in the 381-run first Gabba Test win.

Johnson wreaked havoc after lunch with six for 16 off 26 balls for his ninth five-wicket haul. The 32-year-old quick is now 10th on the Australian all-time list with 221 wickets.

Australia, who declared at 570 for nine, once again skittled the Ashes holders cheaply in the series. England have yet to score beyond 200 after being dismissed for 136 and 179 in the Gabba first Test.

Only Ian Bell (72 not out) and Michael Carberry (60) offered any resistance as England's batsmen showed a distinct lack of appetite to face the hostile Johnson, who has now taken 16 wickets in the series.
