Cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Friday stressed on the need for detecting cancer at an early stage, saying it paves the way for curing the disease.
Yuvraj, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012, said he could successfully fight the dreaded diseased as it was detected early.
"Sixty percent of the cancer patients can be cured provided the disease is detected at an early stage," he said in Mathura.
He advised patients and their family members not to lose hope as the disease is curable and pointed out that him being a cancer survivor is an example.
The left-hander said sometimes prayers play a more vital role in a patient's recovery than medicine.
He said tobacco is one of the causes for cancer and urged people not to consume it.
