Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has claimed that his relationship with former skipper Shahid Afridi has been spoiled after his scathing report on the country's dismal performance in the recently-concluded World T20 was leaked.

"I have been very clear that report was not for the media, but for the cricket board. Unfortunately, the report was leaked and my relationship with Afridi has been spoilt," Younis was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Waqar and Afridi's decision to step down from their respective position came days after their side's early exit from the T20 format's pinnacle event. Pakistan were crashed out of the prestigious tournament after suffering three successive defeats against arch-rivals India, New Zealand and Australia in the group stages.

Talking about Afridi's drawbacks, the 44-year-old said that the main problem with the all-rounder was his inability to concentrate on a particular thing for long span of time.

"Afridi's drawbacks as a captain are for everyone to see. He has got a temperament issue. He cannot sit for too long to highlight things, or absorb things and then go and implement them. I've said this in my report," said Younis.

Waqar also admitted that his relationship with Misbah-ul-Haq was far more better than that with Afridi, saying that Pakistan Test skipper had got great temperament for cricket and that he holds ability to absorb a lot of things from the coach.

Former pace spearhead Waqar further insisted that the main reason for the country's cricket dip in form was a tug of war between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan and head of executive committee Najam Sethi, who were trying to pull the game in their own ways.

"The biggest issue was having two heads of a family, (it) did not help the cause. Not only for the coach but cricket overall also suffered because, inside the PCB, there are two heads and two different directions. That needs to be looked into. That is very important," he insisted.

Earlier, Waqar, in his strongly worded and detailed report submitted to the PCB and later to the fact-finding committee, said that the selection of the team for the T20 format's pinnacle event was made without his notice.

The former head coach, in his report, also criticized former chief selector Haroon Rasheed for making too many changes in the team rather than sticking to his decision for some time in a bid to develop the team.

As a result of it, the PCB disbanded Rasheed's selection committee with immediate effect
